The St. Croix River Association has announced the winners of its 2014 photo contest, and there are some beautiful photos to enjoy.

Renowned professional photographer Gary Alan Nelson was the judge for this annual contest, now in its fourth year. Prizes were awarded to category winners Oct. 4 at the SCRA annual Fall Gathering hosted in conjunction with Crex Meadow’s Wildlife Area’s Fall Fest.

More than 130 entries by amateur photographers were submitted for competition in four categories: Landscape, People, Wildlife, and Close-up for both youth and adults. Photos could be taken anywhere in the St. Croix River’s 8,000-square mile watershed.
