From the Sterling, Eureka, and Laketown Historical Society:

  • Rickey Stage: “If weather permits, I’ll be outside from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm for the River Road Ramble on Sept 28th at Wolf Creek Methodist Church playing my CD’s songs and cover songs, hope to see you there! Thank You!”

River Road Ramble

Saturday September 28, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Roads and sites between St. Croix Falls and Grantsburg, Wis.

The folks between St Croix Falls and Grantsburg, WI, celebrate the oldest road in the area, the St Croix River Road by an annual celebration featuring local history, local events, sales, garden produce, orchards, food, car show, museums and live entertainment.

The Sterling Eureka and Laketown Historical Society invites you to ramble up the oldest road in northwest Wisconsin, the old St. Croix River Road, and its modern replacement, Highway 87.

A couple of dozen stops are open along the way for sales, tours, activities, and events. Fall colors are already starting here, and by the 28th should be spectacular.

You can see it all at the 2019 River Road Ramble map online.

A second map details the local history of the area.

The St. Croix River Road Ramble Facebook page will post details and feature local stops.

Sponsored by the Sterling Eureka and Laketown Historical Society.

Story of 360

One of the biggest challenges facing the St. Croix River is harmful blooms of algae in in the lower river, due to excess nutrients in runoff. The goal is to restore the river by reducing phosphorus levels to 360 tons/year. Learn more »
