Justin Hoppe shared this video he made of a trip across the river from Bayport to Hudson on the ice road:

The road has been used for decades for both ice-fishing and as a shortcut — especially by employees of Andersen Windows. It has been plowed for two decades by Andersen retiree Dave Swanson.

There is open water just north of the ice road at the Xcel Energy plant, so drivers are cautioned to steer clear and scout the area in daylight.

The St Croix river and its surrounding communities are beautiful any time of the year. Crossing the river on the ice or ice fishing south of the power plant in Bayport are not one of my winter activities but this is a fun video and amazing film footage to watch.
