For several years, a group of painters have met on Monday evenings at the Lake Elmo Art Center. Together, they have grown as artists through encouragement, motivation and the evolution of their group into a community. The group, known as New Century Artists, includes: Dagny Bilkadi, Lou Cunico, Laurel Gregorian, Mike Kramer, Bor-Jiin Mao, Jill Marudas, Bev Marx, David Swanson and Mark Weersma.

This February, the St. Croix Galleries at ArtReach St. Croix is featuring the New Century Artists’s show Growth in Harmony, an exhibition built on a simple image of a stand of birch trees. The birch is often seen as a symbol of growth and the nine paintings show the growth of the individual artists as they interpreted the image through watercolor, acrylic, pastels or oil.

The St. Croix Galleries are open Wednesdays – Fridays 10am-4pm and Saturdays 12-4pm.

Plan to join us for a reception on Thursday, February 21 from 6-8pm.
