Truth in Nature
Plein Air Exhibition
July 25-August 25, 2016
White Bear Lake Center for the Arts

The Ford Family Gallery at White Bear Center for the Arts will feature 10 award-winning plein air artists this summer. “Plein Air” means ”open air” in French. Plein air painting began in 19th-century Europe believing artists should forget formulas and trust their own vision in finding truth in nature.

The featured artists are: Christopher Copeland, Joshua Cunningham, Andy Evansen, Sara Lubinski, Mary Pettis, Mike Rada, Lisa Stauffer, Bob Upton, Kathie Wheeler, and Dan Wiemer. Five of the 10 artists have connections to the St Croix Valley, but all of them paint landscapes that could be in the valley.
