ArtReach St. Croix is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibit to mark the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. “A Story of the St. Croix: Patterns of Change” is an opportunity for guests to learn about the river that makes this region of Wisconsin and Minnesota so exceptional.

Ten years ago, a team of artists, scientists, writers and musicians created “A Story of the St. Croix: Patterns of Change” for exhibit at Arcola Mills. The St. Croix River and its main tributary were among the original eight rivers designated under this law. Come and explore the history of the river through the glacial age and into the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.

The re-mounted exhibit will be on view at ArtReach August 30 to October 6. The galleries at ArtReach St. Croix (224 4th St N, Stillwater) are open Wednesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 12-4 p.m.

Celebrate the opening at a reception on Thursday, August 30 from 6-8 pm.

This exhibition is part of Take Me to the River, a series of arts events across the St. Croix Valley of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Funding for the original exhibit at Arcola Mills was provided by the McKnight Foundation. ArtReach is grateful to The Mike and Beth Diem Foundation for current funding to make its re-installation in the ArtReach St. Croix galleries possible.
