Woodland Owner Webinar: How to enroll in Minnesota’s Sustainable Forest Incentive Act
Wednesday, May 20 at 1:30 p.m.

As a home to rich wildlife habitat, water quality, and beautiful open spaces, Minnesota’s woodlands are a precious resource for the state. Within the St. Croix River watershed, over 75% of these woodlands are privately owned. For woodland owners, Minnesota’s Sustainable Forest Incentive Act (SFIA) can help make this ownership more affordable.

SFIA provides annual incentive payments to keep your wooded areas wooded. Payments are based on the length of time you promise not to develop your land and the amount of land you enroll. On Wednesday, May 20 at 1:30 PM, the St. Croix River Association will host a free webinar in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Revenue to explain SFIA and how it can help woodland owners.

This webinar—the first in a series tailored to woodland owners—will provide an overview of the SFIA program, including the benefits of the program, application requirements, incentive payment information, and land eligibility. A variety of resources will be provided, including a website tour to find more information regarding SFIA.

Please note that this event is free, but registration is required. An email will be sent to all registrants with a link to view the webinar. This webinar will also be recorded for future viewing. Visit the St. Croix River Association calendar to learn about upcoming webinars in the Woodland Owner Webinar series.
