Life has thrown us all a curveball and many of us are trying to figure out our new normal. For Artist Karron Nottingham, curveballs are nothing new.

“There will be life lessons that are learned during these trying times that will give families and kids the skills for success in the future,” says Nottingham.

But something is missing! Nottingham, the owner of Off the Wall Art Studio in Stillwater, spends her days working as an artist in residence at several local elementary schools and offering studio art classes in the valley.

“My spirit just wasn’t happy! I’m missing the connection that art offers. I’m missing my families. And I needed to find a way to let people know I care and that I am still here for you,” says Nottingham, who has created take away art projects for kids.

These kits are simple supplies to teach kids the art of weaving. Each kit contains instructions, a handmade loom, and some yarn. These kits are available at Off the Wall Art Studio and they are free of charge.

How does this become community art? Once you complete your project, snap a photo and email it to Karron@offthewall.org and then drop your finished piece off back at the studio. Nottingham will then create a larger woven piece to share in the community as a reminder that art can calm the mind, soothe the spirit and provide beauty during a trying time.

If you are interested in participating or donating supplies of cardboard, string or yarn please visit Off The Wall Studios at 2000 Industrial Boulevard #3, Stillwater, MN 55082. Cash donations are also being accepted for the purchase of supplies. Off The Wall is taking safety precautions when preparing the kits.

Karron Nottingham, Director/Instructor of Off The Wall Studio, is a professional artist recognized nationally and internationally for both her mixed media constructions and her lectures / seminars on creative content. She is a dynamic speaker with extensive experience in art education who enthusiastically embraces the development of “self!” Karron has been sharing her love of art teaching students of all ages for over 30 years. She has served as Artist in Residence at several Stillwater Area Schools for over 18 years.

Story of 360

One of the biggest challenges facing the St. Croix River is harmful blooms of algae in in the lower river, due to excess nutrients in runoff. The goal is to restore the river by reducing phosphorus levels to 360 tons/year. Learn more »
