Note: Bending Branches has been a steward of the St. Croix since long before releasing this new paddle, including supporting the St. Croix River Association.

The Catalyst Canoe paddle is our own company-wide catalyst to be more sustainable in our practices. Fueled by a desire to do our part in keeping the planet pristine, we developed this paddle to use remnants from first quality paddles, saving that wood from the firebox.

Not only are we reducing our excess material, $5 from each paddle purchased goes to support American Rivers, a non-profit dedicated to protecting wild rivers, restoring damaged rivers, and conserving clean water for people and nature.

Each paddle is made from a combination of red alder, maple, basswood, and roasted basswood pieces that are laid by hand into a unique pattern. Weighing in at 22 oz., this paddle exceeds our strength testing standards with full Rockgard® coverage and a 2 oz. fiberglass wrap, so durability is never an issue.

The Catalyst is day trip ready and is comfortable to canoe with for hours due to the ovalization of the solid basswood shaft. It’s smooth paddling on flatwaters with our 118 sq. in. classic teardrop blade shape. Available with a classic palm grip on the bent shaft option, it retails for $149.95. The straight shaft option offers the universal freestyle palm grip for $139.95.

Hand-crafted in Osceola, Wisconsin. Join us in sparking change in the paddling industry with the new Catalyst canoe paddle.

Available for purchase September 3, 2019.
