Via the St. Croix River Association:

In honor of Women’s History Month, SCRA will host three free, family-friendly hikes throughout the month of March to highlight the contributions of women in the field of conservation.

From historical figures like wildlife biologist Frances Hamerstrom to present-day staff members at SCRA and other organizations, these events will feature the inspiring stories of the women in our watershed and the work they do to conserve its beauty and resources for future generations!

Events will include:

March 6—Women in Conservation: Education and Outreach
Featuring SCRA Outdoor Educator Nicole Biagi and Carpenter Nature Center (CNC) Naturalist Abbey Holden, this informative hike on the CNC grounds in Hastings, Minnesota will also include time with the ambassador animals.

March 14—Women in Conservation: Native Habitats & Threats
Hike with SCRA Invasive Species Coordinator Katie Sickmann and Wendy Williamson of the Hayward Fly Fishing Co. to learn more about the native species that inhabit the Namekagon River and Hayward area and the threats that pose a risk to these valued resources.

March 27—Women in Conservation: Farms and Forests
Join SCRA Forestry Program Coordinator Nikki Henger and Jacquelyn Zita from the Women’s Environmental Institute (WEI) on a guided tour of Wild River State Park! Participants will learn about Jacquelyn’s work with environmental justice and Nikki’s work with the My St. Croix Woods program.
