2019-20 Speaker Series – ‘Protecting the Places We Love’

‘Protecting the Places We Love’ was inspired by the upcoming 50th anniversary of Earth Day, founded on April 22, 1970 by  U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson.

Mr. Nelson (1916-2005) was born and raised in Clear Lake in Polk County, Wisconsin. He served as Governor of Wisconsin and U.S. Senator from 1958 – 1981. In 1995 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work on environmental issues.

It seems fitting that a global environmental movement was initiated by a leader with such deep ties to the St. Croix Valley. ‘Protecting the Places We Love’ is as much a call to action today as it was 50 years ago.

Upcoming presentations:

Mar 18, The Forever Green Initiative for Agriculture
