The tourist train that takes passengers on trips up and down the St. Croix Valley from its Osceola, Wis. depot will begin offering rides on Saturday May, 4.

The Osceola and St. Croix Valley Railway started its season in June last year, but will begin in May again in 2019. That means the return of its Mother’s Day brunch rides, too. Trips are available every weekend throughout the summer, and some Thursdays.

May 4 will see the regular schedule, with trains departing 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for Marine on St. Croix, and a train to Dresser, Wis. departing at 1:30 p.m.

The trip to Marine crosses the historic Cedar Bend Swing Bridge across the St. Croix River — twice. The bridge was built in 1887. The train engines and cars date from about a century ago.

“Book an experience like none other in the St. Croix River Valley!” Osceola and St. Croix Valley Railway says. “Each one of the Transportation Museum’s excursions give the riders a feel for the past and create an unforgettable experience.”

Besides regular trips to Marine and Osceola with coach tickets available, other opportunities include a dinner train one weekend per month, a pizza train on several Saturdays, fall color tours September 26-October 30, and more.

Special trips this year include:

  • May 11 – Mother’s Day Brunch
  • June 15 – Father’s Day Brunch
  • July 3 – Ride to Marine on St. Croix and enjoy fireworks
  • October 18-20 – Pumpkin Express, a trip to the Dresser Depot where families can enjoy a pumpkin patch, story walks, and more seasonal fun.

All trains depart from 114 Depot Road, Osceola, WI, 54020. Prices include senior and military service discounts. Learn more and reserve tickets here.
