Enjoy this minute of video footage from a drone flying above the St. Croix Dalles. The area is best known for the Interstate Park — areas protected by both Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The hard basalt found in this area was formed more than a billion years ago. Its toughness stands in stark contrast to the soft sandstone which makes up much of the St. Croix Valley’s bedrock. The St. Croix River flows through a channel in the basalt carved by the great flood caused by melting glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age.

The Taylors Falls riverboats also show up in a few shots. These boats offer daily tours of the area. Click here for more info.

According to the YouTube page, the video was edited by Sawyer Brice using footage by Joe Gorres.
