The test will last about 90 seconds and involve a series of audible tones and messages.

About the dam

Trego Hydro, located on the Namekagon River about eight miles north of Spooner Wisconsin, is a run-of-the-river operation. The Trego dam was built in 1927 and was refurbished in 1980 with repairs to the power plant, spillway and piers. The plant is remotely operated from the Wissota hydro plant.

The dam creates Trego Lake, a six mile long, 470 acre impoundment only a half mile across at its widest point. The steep banks of the lake are rimmed by stands of jack pine and aspen, with many private cabins among trees.

Fishing is popular with residents and vacationers; however, recreational use of Trego Lake is light since many people are drawn to the larger lakes nearby.
