Students sought to discuss St. Croix River stewardship at February summit

The second annual youth summit at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is designed to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.

St. Croix Summit 2019

Calling all middle school, high school, college, and university students!

Join your peers for the 2nd Annual St. Croix Youth Summit; a day of youth empowerment.

Sign your students up for a one-day workshop with keynote speakers, exhibitors, films, hands-on learning and discussion designed to inspire the next generation of environmental leaders. A program schedule will be posted online soon.

  • Gather – Gather together as a collective and youthful voice for science and for the future of the St. Croix River watershed
  • Learn – Learn from professional conservation leaders about the environmental threats to the St. Croix River watershed and your community
  • Discuss – Discuss environmental cause and effect, implications and solutions with your peers
  • Do – Take what you learn from the St. Croix Summit and put it into action in your school and community

Story of 360

One of the biggest challenges facing the St. Croix River is harmful blooms of algae in in the lower river, due to excess nutrients in runoff. The goal is to restore the river by reducing phosphorus levels to 360 tons/year. Learn more »
