About 80 miles of the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers run through and next to Burnett County, in northwestern Wisconsin.

The county’s tourism coalition, under the tagline “Spirited Waters, Inspiring Wildlife,” has launched a new marketing campaign to promote the region’s great outdoor resources.

In a recent online vote, its audience picked the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway from the more than 500 lakes and rivers in the county as the best water experience.

The county describes the appeal:

“Float lazily past the Sandrock Cliffs and through wooded passages, or get a glance of a majestic bald eagle and other wildlife. The fish are plentiful too – cast a line into the peaceful waters and patiently await your trophy catch. Campsites, available through the National Park Service, line the banks of the river, letting enthusiasts spend days, not hours, on these beautiful scenic rivers.”

Outfitters in Grantsburg and Danbury are available to rent canoes and kayaks and provide shuttle services.
