The St. Croix River is expected to rise about seven feet above normal by Monday, possibly causing minor flooding in Stillwater.

The river is projected to crest at 682.3′, just below the stage at which a no-wake zone would usually be declared. It is currently almost at 680′, which is five feet above normal.

“The rare February flood will cause Hockey Day Minnesota organizers and crews with the Stillwater Ice Castles to get to work removing temporary buildings and structures that remain in Lowell Park,” Stillwater Current reports.

The rising water is due to warm weather and melting snow, as well as rain in the upper watershed.
