2013 St. Croix workshop

Join us for our seventh annual workshop on the St. Croix River to discuss and learn how you can help to preserve and enhance our beloved St. Croix River. During this evening on the water, community leaders will celebrate the centennial of the National Park Service and learn about two locally-led efforts to protect the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and create vibrant communities where we live, work, and play.

Land use decisions – both inland and along the river – affect the health of the St. Croix. A clean and healthy St. Croix brings natural, recreational and economic value to our communities. During this workshop, you will learn more about what it means to be designated as a National Scenic Riverway and how the established policies and standards help to protect this community asset. We will share success stories from communities along the St. Croix that are adopting improved stormwater management policies and provide guidance to help your community do the same.

Who should attend: Local elected and appointed officials and community leaders in the Minnesota and Wisconsin St. Croix watershed including city councils, county commissioners, city and county planning commissions and staff, zoning boards and staff, park board members, watershed district and organization board members, town and township boards and supervisors, agricultural commodity leadership groups, and St. Croix Partnership Team.

A special invite this year to leaders from communities adopting the MN MIDS Community Assistance Package (revised stormwater ordinances). These include Afton, Oak Park Heights, Baytown Township, Wast Lakeland Township, Bayport, Lake St. Croix Beach, St.Mary’s Point, Lakeland Shores, Lakeland, Lindstrom, Center City, and Chisago City.
