Heritage Initiative Regional GatheringsPublic meetings scheduled this fall around the region of Minnesota and Wisconsin defined by the St. Croix River and its tributaries will give community members a chance to share their ideas about how a National Heritage Area might work in their communities.

The Gatherings will build off the stories shared at 10 Heritage Discover Workshops held earlier in 2012, and seek to refine four common story themes which the Task Force identified this summer. Attendees will also discuss potential strategies – such as economic development, historic preservation, environmental conservation, and education, arts and culture – to promote and conserve the resources which define our region.

“The Heritage Initiative task force has heard tremendous excitement and enthusiasm about the possibility of a National Heritage Area in our region,” said Jill Shannon of the St. Croix Valley Foundation, which is facilitating the Initiative. “We invite people to attend a Regional Gatherings to help craft smart strategies for making the most of our region’s amazing cultural, historic and natural resources.”
