After the success of last year’s trip down the entire St. Croix River to celebrate the St. Croix River Association‘s 100th anniversary, the group is planning to spend some time on the Namekagon this May.

Over the course of six days from May 20 to 25, paddlers will travel from near Cable, Wisconsin 92 miles to the river’s confluence with the St. Croix at Riverside. The trip will be partially supported, meaning overnight gear will be transported from campsite to campsite by support vehicles.

Travelers will visit communities along the route for special events. The trip’s website says, “There are rumors of a community fish boil, a taste of Hayward, a two story high Muskie, Tenkara fly fishing demonstrations, voyageurs, local history and lore, the list goes on. You will explore a national park and see an abundance of wildlife.”

The cost of the trip is $250/person with shuttle service included, or $225/person without shuttle service. Learn more and sign up here.
