Tuesday, March 14 is the International Day of Action for Rivers. There are clean-up and other conservation events scheduled around the world, but you can simply take part by watching a documentary.

‘Bel Monte: After the Flood’ is being made available online and for download in honor of the day. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Todd Southgate, the film “explores the history and consequences of one of the world’s most controversial dam projects, built on the Xingu River in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon.”

The goal of the 20th annual Day of Action for Rivers in 2017 “is to raise our voices in unison against destructive water development projects, reclaim the health of our watersheds, and demand the equitable and sustainable management of our rivers.”
