For the second year, the Carpenter Art Festival will support conservation of the very land where it sits: 300 protected acres south of Hudson, Wisc. Several artists will display their work, and donate part of their sales to Carpenter Nature Center.

The art fair is being held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 at 300 East Cove Road.

This year, new artists and vendors include an Audubon Society award-winning photographer, professional wood workers, custom clothing colored by plant-based dyes, paintings, drawings, watercolors and sculptures, bison skulls, hand-crafted jewelry, organic honey, homemade soaps, and stained glass windows.

Food will be locally-sourced and prepared by Leah Nesbitt from Oasis Eatery at Nesbitt’s Nursery

Carpenter Nature Center has been based on the banks of the lower St. Croix in Denmark Township, Minn. for decades. In the 1980s and 1990s, several parcels of land on the bluffs across the river were donated, consisting of prairies and forests, habitat for many plants and animals. The Wisconsin property is open seven days a week for hiking, enjoying nature, and occasional on-site programming.
