Join us for an evening with Natalie Warren on January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Croix Falls Public Library, 230 S. Washington St., St. Croix Falls, WI.

Natalie Warren and Ann Raiho were the first two women to paddle the 2,000 miles from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay in 2011, following Eric Sevareid’s route from Canoeing With the Cree. She and Ann were nominated for Canoe & Kayak’s 2012 Expedition of the Year and were featured in Outside Magazine, Canoe & Kayak, and the Star Tribune. Here is their Hudson Bay Bound Blog, which has over 40,000 views.

In this presentation, Natalie accounts her journey to the Bay through environmental and social speculations, challenges on the trail, animal encounters, and heart-warming stories. She encourages listeners to turn their passion into a career and shares her adventure learning about social, economic, agricultural, and environmental issues from a canoe.

Natalie Warren fell in love with the wilderness after a two-week canoe trip in the BWCA and later pursued an Environmental Studies degree at St. Olaf. In the fall of 2010, Natalie participated in a Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA) program in Minneapolis where she delved further into the world of environmental sustainability. She spends her free time playing the saxophone, dressing up as a bear, and working on organic farms. After a year of public speaking about Hudson Bay Bound, Natalie started Wild River Academy to provide river trips for teenagers. Natalie is currently working for the St. Croix River Association as the River Corridor Steward.
