Explore some of the wildest parts of the Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway on a kayak trip guided by a National Park Service ranger and a few new friends.

According to the St. Croix River Association, which operates the trips in partnership with the Park Service, there are still available spots on four ranger-led paddles on the Namekagon River this summer. Details and registration.

Saturday, June 29 – Hey Ranger, Fish On!

One opening
3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Hwy 70 Landing to Stevens Creek Landing

Known for its world class smallmouth bass fishery, the St. Croix River is a great place to spend an afternoon fishing.  Join a Park Ranger and learn the secrets and techniques for successfully fishing this amazing river.

Sunday, July 14 – Art on the Namekagon

Seven openings
4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Howell Landing to McDowell Landing

Rivers have long inspired artists to express themselves.  Spend an evening paddling the Namekagon River with a Park Ranger exploring the world of river inspired art.  Be prepared to share your own inner artist. No prior art experience required.

Paddling time for the 6 mile trip is approximately 3 1/2 hours. Register »

Saturday, July 20 – Paddle & Smell the Flowers

Six openings
8:30 am to 1:30 pm
Hayward Landing to Stinnett Landing

Enjoy a relaxing paddle down the Namekagon River as you stop to admire the beautiful wildflowers that grow along the river banks. Join a Park Ranger to learn more about the flowers that call the Namekagon River home.

Paddling time for the 7-mile trip is approximately 4 hours. Register »

Friday, August 9 – Ghost Town

Seven openings
10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Earl Landing to the Namekagon Visitor Center Landing

Paddle down the Namekagon River and learn about Veazie, a historic town that once existed along the Namekagon River.  See the site of an old dam and learn the stories of the characters that called Veazie home.

Paddling time for the 4 mile trip is approximately 2 1/2 hours. Register »
