Bird’s-eye bridge

A remote-controlled airplane and a small GoPro video camera were all it took to make a beautiful video of the historic Arcola High Bridge and the frozen St. Croix River.

When the builders of the Arcola High Bridge completed the span in 1911, humans had only been flying for eight years. The first moving pictures had been recorded only 16 years prior.

Things have come a ways since then. YouTube user KarlB created a cool video of the bridge using a radio-controlled airplane and a small video camera attached to it.

Enjoy the dreamy sequences (the video is slowed down by half) of flying around the magnificent bridge and over the frozen braided channels of the St. Croix a few miles above Stillwater.
